David Leslie is an Iñupiaq Alaska activist. His disabled veteran mother was born in Kotzebue, David was born in Louisiana, and they both were raised in Fairbanks. His grandfather was a member of the Local 375 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, and his grandmother ran Leslie's Beauty Supply.
David graduated Lathrop High School, and attended St. Mary's College of California and the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he studied Film Studies and Broadcast Journalism.
Since then, he has become a certified swing and ballroom dance instructor, and was the Alaska State Employees Association Local 52 union steward when he worked at the Fairbanks Pioneer Home. He is currently a contractor for environmental causes affecting Alaska and the Arctic.
He has served on the multiple nonprofit boards and continues to be involved in the community by organizing protests, rallies and fundraisers for a wide variety of issues and causes.
David decided to run for US Senate after seeing there were no other candidates who would boldly state their positions on the genocide in Palestine, ICE concentration camps, women and LGBTQ people dying from being denied care and criminalized, and growing white supremacy and Christian nationalism.
David believes to fight fascism, we must care for everyone in the community through universal health care, education and housing, regardless of race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, immigration status and income levels.
Most importantly, David knows we must impeach and convict Donald Trump for his abuse of power, corruption, and ignoring the U.S. Constitution.
